Transformative Communication for Parents
This training takes the form of 5 X 1 hour sessions for groups between 10-15.
The sessions will run weekly on Wednesday evenings (7-8pm) starting on Wednesday 12th November 2025.
The course will take place at Hawk Green Reading Room, Upper Hibbert Lane, Marple, SK6 7HQ.

Nick’s training course for parents aims to; build an understanding of behaviour, introduce Transformative Communication techniques to increase Resilience and improve the relationship between parent and child.
Nick also recognises that parents can live in ‘survival mode’ for much of the time and gives several tools and tips to move to a more positive mindset. Thus, reducing the barriers to a parent building the best possible relationship with their child.
Week 1: Introduction
We begin by identifying how children can fall into negative behaviour patterns, what drives behaviours (including the often neglected physical drivers), the impact of physical drivers (including the fight, flight, freeze response), the part adults play in negative cycles, and how negative cycles of behaviour can become entrenched.
We move on to an overview of Transformative Communication and how it can be used to not only break negative cycles, but create positive ones.
Week 2: How to Empathically challenge 'survival behaviours'
A deep dive into how to turn challenge into opportunity with one of Transformative Communication's cornerstone strategies. Learn how to Empathically challenge the most typical behaviours that parents find difficult to deal with; anxiety, anger, avoidance, refusal, rudeness, seeking approval, controlling behaviours, impulsivity and more.
We look at the impact that empathy can have on our children's physical responses both in the moment and longer term.
Through leading with empathy, not only can we help decrease less desirable behaviours, we can also give our children the gift of learning about themselves that can have a long lasting, wide ranging and transformative impact on them now and in the future.
Week 3: Superpowers
Every child is remarkable, unique and extraordinary in their own way, but do our children explicitly know their specific strengths?
For the majority of children that I work with, their perspective is that day to day life has it's challenging (or boring, anxiety provoking, pintless) moments. Children are not taught from a young age about the strengths they have to cope with and overcome challenges. How do we solve this issue? Superpower language can certainly help.
In this session, we explore how to empower your child's inner voice (how they see themselves and the world around them) with another cornerstone strategy, Superpower language.
Week 4: Developing Resilience as a parent
The experience of being a parent is personal to each individual person. What is without question, is that parenting can be stressful, anxiety provoking and can stir up our own limiting beliefs that most adults will have.
In this session, Nick discusses how we can become negatively conditioned, shares some of his own challenges, gives group members the opportunity to share what they find particularly stressful about being a parent (this is not compulsory), and moves onto provide some self-development strategies that will hopefully give parents a balanced mindset in even the most trying of times.
Week 5: Progress check / Trouble shooting
In our final session, we establish how the parents have experienced putting their learning into practice. Typically, parents will experience a mixture of successes and challenges and can share these should they wish to.
If necessary, we can tailor the approach even further to trouble shoot any issues that are a barrier to Transformative Communication being successful.
*PLEASE NOTE
While the group will be interactive with plenty of scope for questions, comments and back and forth discussions, there isn't a specific session exclusively dedicated to parents sharing their reasons for attending the course.
However, before attending the course, parents will have the opportunity to share their unique challenges when registering online. Nick also offers a pre-course call so that parents can talk about what brings them to the group.
The only limits to the possibilities in your life tomorrow are the buts you use today
