Specialist Resilience training for
education settings

With the team, Nick identifies the challenges for both professionals and children in the vastly more complex world of post-covid education.

We move on to explore how adults can strategically communicate with children to enhance their inner voice, empower a positive sense of self and look at the subsequent impact on Resilience, behaviour and long-term outcomes.

Nick works closely with schools to implement and oversee Transformative Communication techniques that lead to:

  • Positive changes in behaviour
  • Removal of barriers to learning
  • A happier and more resilient workforce

Nick now provides both remote and on-site training.

Transformative Communication

Transformative Communication training gives professionals a unique perspective on how to meet children where they are rather than where we wish them to be. Children present with more complexity than ever, and many become anxious and/or disaffected at school. For some children the curriculum exasperates this, yet it's a curriculum that professionals are expected to deliver. Through Transformative Communication, learn how to connect through challenge and improve outcomes in the process.

Transformative Communication

One-off staff meeting: 1.5 hours, available in person or remotely

A one-off staff meeting gives education professionals an insight into the cornerstone Transformative Communication techniques that increase Resilience and reduce survival behaviours and barriers to learning.

This training also provides a brief overview of; the belief systems children have that lead to negative behaviour, what that behaviour looks like, the impact that behaviour can have and, perhaps most importantly, what professionals can do about it.

*Please note, follow-up staff meetings are available to; review how the strategies have been applied, reaffirm the benefit of the strategies and troubleshoot if necessary

Extended Transformative Communication

Half-day training: 3 hours (inclusive of a 20 minute break), available in person or remotely

During Half-day training, Nick explores the state of play in education and outlines the challenges professionals are faced with. We look at the impact on children's inner voice and attempt to understand the subsequent presenting behaviours displayed.

Half-day training allows for case studies and detailed examples of how to use Transformative Communication to build the inner voice of children. We discuss examples of best practice of the communication techniques that have worked so well in Nick’s schools.

There is also opportunity for participant interaction and activities, with the objective that your team leaves the training with bespoke strategies to implement Transformative Communication as an approach.

Advanced Transformative Communication and Staff Empowerment and personal growth

Full-day training: 9:30am-4pm or 9am-3:30pm (inclusive of a lunch hour and two, 20 minute breaks), available in person or remotely

Inclusive of all the content of the half-day training, the full-day option provides the opportunity to learn how to measure the impact of Transformative Communication.

Full-day training also adds depth to the understanding of why a child may appear to lack Resilience and the way this manifests itself in education settings.

After interaction with the participants, Nick will give detailed examples of how to use Transformative Communication to increase Resilience, build relationships and reduce behaviour that hinders the learning of children and their classmates. In full-day training, Nick can tailor his approach more specifically to your setting’s needs.

Full-day training provides additional input to build a strong inner voice amongst staff, offsetting limiting beliefs that participants may have about implementing Transformative Communication strategies. To support staff wellbeing, Nick also gives a brief outline of tips to promote positive thinking to empower staff to see that they are stronger than the challenges they face.

Staff Empowerment and Personal Growth

Working in education can be incredibly rewarding. However, the number of children with complex needs has grown and continues to grow exponentially.  With supportive services at full capacity and waiting times for referrals at an all-time high, it is falling more on SLT, SENDCOs, teachers and support staff to deal with complex issues that really require specialist intervention. Subsequently, professionals are dealing with challenges that can cause stress, anxiety, self-doubt and beliefs that their skills do not match the expectations they have of themselves.

When professionals experience such issues, their ability to work effectively is compromised, their confidence can be damaged and they re-experience the disabling feelings and beliefs detailed above. Thus, a vicious cycle develops.

Staff Resilience and Personal Growth training details how to build a strong inner voice within professionals and supports them to re-frame limiting thoughts about challenges. The goal of this training is to empower participants to believe that their strengths far outweigh any obstacles they may perceive are stopping them from fulfilling their potential.

Staff Empowerment and Personal Growth

One-off staff meeting: 1.5 hours, available in person or remotely

In a one-off staff meeting, Nick aims to briefly highlight how professionals can fall into negative thought and belief cycles.

The focus then is to provide participants with ideas to help themselves become more positive, empowered and Resilient.

*Please note, follow-up staff meetings are available to; review how the strategies have been applied, reaffirm the benefit of the strategies and troubleshoot if necessary

Extended Staff Empowerment and Personal Growth

Half-day training: 3 hours (inclusive of a 20 minute break), available in person or remotely.

The content in Nick’s Half-day training is similar to that provided in the one-off staff meeting. However, the additional time allows for more detail on how negative cycles can develop and how to change thinking patterns to break these cycles.

There is also more opportunity for participant interaction in the Half-day training.

Advanced Staff Empowerment and Personal Growth and Transformative Communication

Full-day training: 9:30am-4pm or 9am-3:30pm (inclusive of a lunch hour and two, 20 minute breaks), available in person or remotely.

Full-day training provides participants with a greater depth of understanding of negative cycles. Nick then moves on to give detailed tips and strategies that will; build strength awareness, develop positive thinking patterns and empower professionals to believe in their own Resilience and how they can use it every day.

With more chance for interaction and activities, Nick can give bespoke advice to overcome specific challenges that professionals in your setting might be going through.

Full-day training also provides additional input to give professionals a brief overview of how to implement Transformative to build Resilience and reduce negative behaviour in the children they work with.

Resilience coaching delivered to whole classes. Schools have the option for Nick to teach each class or choose particular classes that they think would most benefit.

Nick’s Resilience coaching classes give children a greater understanding of how they are resilient and how they show such Resilience each day.

Once an understanding of Resilience has been established, Nick offers follow-up lessons for the classes involved and close liaison with the class teacher to support a long standing impact after his input ends.

Classroom input with children is a cornerstone of Nick’s whole school Transformative Communication approach in his schools and is available to suit the specific needs of each school.
